I’ve tried wearing this multiple times because I want to love it (I like the idea of a rice note), but I think I have to give it up.

It was my favorite perfume back in 2008, and I remembered about it again now in 2023 (suddenly) after wearing Erba Pura the other day :) Amour is sweet and cozy, not intrusive vanilla but soft and tasty one. The heliotrope (and frangipani/cherry blossom) here must be the reason Im getting these Pour Femme vibes at the drydown, but when I stick my nose to my skin, I'm always smelling this alluring nutty scent even after 1 hour. Maybe this comes to mind because of the studies that say men are attracted to scents like vanilla and baby powder? it last at least 7 hours on the skin though once you spray it on others will smell it and you probably won't.Looking at the votes for notes on this fragrance makes me wonder if people don't know what heliotrope smells like. I can see where the comparisons to Hypnotic Poison EDT are coming from, but personally I think that one is straight creamy play doh while this one is a sweet, zesty rice pudding.

The incense and tea notes give it a nice kick but you can't really pick them out because of the great blending. The fragrant rice, Gandhavanthi of ancient Indian times- which gives away most of its scent while being cooked. It is important to note that the longevity factor alone should not be the sole determinant in choosing a perfume. If I venture into talking about notes, then I guess it is a comfort of rice and calm of tea on top of fragrant (not so much gourmand) vanilla. Similar to Bvlgari Black, the vanilla-amber-based scent has a tea note, which is something I get wafts of from this. I suspect the playdoh vibe stems from the combination of rice, vanilla, heliotrope and the incense, because like I said Essence Absolue smells so nutty to me and it has incense.

This is more sophisticated imo than Hypnotic Poison or Forbidden, because the playdoh element is not straight up almond overload. I'm a huge fan of rice notes as a means to bring that comforting, creamy aspect to the perfume, rather than straight up vanilla etc although i also get this from amour. Sweetness touches your lips and you now feel her, you are transported to your mother's breast, and infinite love. I much prefer Hypnotic posion, even though just looking by at the notes I thought I would love this much more.
